We are a volunteer run charity which provides small group, fully crewed narrowboat trips along the scenic and tranquil River Soar and Grand Union Canal in Leicestershire.
Facilities include ramp, lift, a spacious cabin, galley kitchen and toilet, all suitable for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues.
Our spacious comfortable boats are located at:
Pilling’s Lock Marina, near Barrow upon Soar and
Leicester Marina, Thurmaston
We operate 7 days a week, between April and 30 October, weather & water levels permitting.
Capacities: Our boats carry a maximum of 12 passengers, with a maximum of 4 wheelchair passengers per boat. If any wheelchair user cannot transfer to a chair, they will count as 2 passengers.
Benefits:
• Easy boarding of the boats – no stairs – we have ramps and lifts
• Only 1 booking on the boat per trip – so no sharing with other people
• The qualified skipper and trained crew take care of operating the boat for you
• Toilet on board and a spacious comfy cabin with heating in cooler weather
• Bring a picnic lunch on-board – hot water for drinks and fridge provided
Volunteers: If you are interested in joining us as a volunteer please look at our website – www.baldwintrust.co.uk and complete the online application form or email volunteers@baldwintrust.co.uk for more information.
